Athol Garage is on the move
The long established third-generation family business, which has had a presence on Peel Road, Douglas since the mid-1930s, will be relocating to brand new purpose-built premises in Balthane Road, Ballasalla early next year.
The new site for the Island.s Nissan franchise, extending to approximately one acre, is situated 100 yards from the junction with Douglas Road, and will consolidate all areas of the business in one central location, providing full Nissan dealership facilities, parts department, Athol Car Hire and used car sales, together with a workshop equipped with the very latest diagnostic equipment.
Sales director David Quayle said: "Relocating to Ballasalla allows us to further develop our airport-related services, notably our vehicle rental operation which is a major arm of our business. Additionally, customers will be able to book their vehicle in to be serviced while they are off the Island, for which we.ll be offering a collection and delivery service."
Managing director Mark Quayle said: "Our Peel Road site has served us well for many years, but the business has expanded and we have outgrown the buildings. By contrast, the Balthane Road premises, which is under seven and a half miles from the Quarterbridge roundabout, provide far better facilities for our customers. The new site can accommodate around 90 displayed vehicles and will have generous dedicated customer parking. We have put a great deal of thought into the design of the new 5000 sq. ft building, in particular having one main reception centre to serve all areas of the business: sales, service, parts and vehicle rental."
"Work has begun on the site and we.re anticipating moving into the new premises early in 2009. We'll be issuing regular updates on progress and are hoping for a seamless transition from the old to the new site, with no disruption of service to our customers."
