Steadily, throughout 2009, our RAC monitored breakdown performance improved until we were top of the table, ahead of Toyota, Lexus, Audi, VW, Mazda, Hyundai, Kia, Volvo, Skoda, Daihatsu and Porsche – the other brands covered by RAC schemes.
It’s a performance that we’ve maintained into 2010. Nissan has the lowest breakdown per thousand vehicles score and we are now in our fifth consecutive month at No.1.
Uniquely, Nissan Technical staff carefully monitor – on a daily basis – all RAC call-outs to vehicles under the Nissan RAC scheme. The team contacts the RAC Patrol who attended the breakdown and follows-up with the repairs afterwards, gaining valuable insight into the causes. In certain cases – where the vehicle usage prior to breakdown is relevant – then drivers are also contacted.
Over 2,200 RAC call-outs have been followed – since the start of activity in 2008 – enabling opportunities for quality improvements to be taken, and so reducing the risk of breakdowns.
This is a great story, and one worth mentioning to all customers purchasing new vehicles. Make sure your sales teams include it as part of their presentations.
